Disconnect and delete data

Use these steps to stop Google Calendar synchronization, revoke Google access, and remove information stored by Research OS on your device.

Before you begin

Research OS currently stores application data locally on the user’s device. Because there is no central Research OS account database holding synchronized Calendar content, most deletion actions are completed directly in the application, on the device, or in the user’s Google Account.

Back up first if needed. Deleting a Research OS vault or its application data may be irreversible. Export or back up any research notes or records you want to keep before continuing.

1. Disconnect Google Calendar in Research OS

Open integration settings

In Research OS, go to Settings → Integrations → Google Calendar.

Choose Disconnect

Confirm that you want to stop synchronization. Research OS will remove the locally stored authorization tokens used for the connection.

Confirm the status

The integration should show as disconnected. Research OS will no longer request new Calendar data or apply Calendar changes.

If your development version does not show a Disconnect control, complete the Google revocation step below and contact support for help clearing the local integration state.

2. Revoke Research OS access in Google

Revoking access at Google invalidates the authorization granted to Research OS. This is recommended if you no longer plan to use the integration.

  1. Open Google Account → Third-party connections.
  2. Select Research OS.
  3. Choose the option to remove or revoke access and confirm.

Google may change the wording or location of these controls. If Research OS is not listed, access may already have been revoked or the connection may have been made with a different Google account.

3. Delete locally stored Research OS data

Choose the level of deletion that matches your goal:

Calendar integration data onlyClear the disconnected integration’s local Calendar cache and synchronization metadata in Research OS settings, when that control is available.
Individual recordsDelete specific events, tasks, notes, or other records within Research OS.
One local vaultUse the vault-management control to delete the selected vault after making any required backup.
All application dataRemove all Research OS local data using the application’s reset or uninstall-data procedure for your operating system.

Deleting application data from one device does not delete information independently stored by Google or another service.

4. Decide what to do with Google Calendar events

Disconnecting Research OS or deleting its local data does not automatically delete events already present in Google Calendar. This prevents an account disconnection from unexpectedly removing the user’s calendar history.

To remove an event from Google, open Google Calendar, review the event, and delete it there. Events synchronized from another calendar or owned by another person may be subject to different permissions.

5. Request assistance

If you cannot complete these steps, or if you previously shared personal data in a support request and want it deleted, email the address below. Include enough information to identify the support conversation, but do not send a password, OAuth token, or full calendar export.

Because Research OS does not maintain a central account database for the current application, support may direct you to device-local or Google Account controls rather than deleting data remotely.
